Online Seminars

Amazing seminar as always—I cannot seem to stop coming back for more—even when I am on holidays !

-- Goodwill Industries participant

I enjoyed being able to start, stop, and revisit information as needed. The materials are very user-friendly and useful.  The seminar was a perfect length and the additional materials give me the opportunity to continue to learn information about the topic at my leisure.

-- US Army Volunteer Corps participant

During each component of the seminar, I was comparing and relating it back to what my organization has in place for the volunteers as well as questioning some of our methodologies for volunteer engagement. The seminar gave me ideas for how to fine tune our style of volunteer engagement.

-- Amercian Red Cross participant

I appreciate the ability to use these seminars at my convenience... I also print out much of the material and have been able to read them and study them at will especially when traveling.

-- Alzheimer’s Association participant

The handouts are great.

-- Goodwill Industries participant

The seminar was especially great in this easy-to-use format because I could stop and think about parts 1 & 2, before listening to part 3, and then I listened to it twice!  Thanks for the opportunity to get this first-class training.

Self-Instruction Guides

I absolutely love the Self-Instruction Guides.

-- American Red Cross participant

The Guide was easy to read and very motivational...good insight!

-- Make-A-Wish Canada participant

The concept and structure of these guides and training is great.

-- American Red Cross participant

I like self-guided learning and the featured readings.

-- Volunteers of America participant

Very easy to understand and not too long - something that's important when you have a busy schedule!

-- Humane Society of the US participant

I especially liked the format. Very easy to follow, moved right along, really covered everything I would need and want to know when utilizing a volunteer.

-- Alzheimer’s Association participant

This was a great guide. I will look for ways to incorporate this information into my staff trainings.

-- Alzheimer’s Association participant

I like the way of reading by myself and discuss some aspects with working partners... and then to use the self-assessment-parts to get clear on my thoughts.

-- Individual member, Germany

Everyone Ready  is extremely valuable for sharing with new staff. We keep printouts of Self-Instruction Guides in the office as a reference tool.

e-Volunteerism

It's all there! Whenever I need a piece of information, I simply search the archives and there it is! No paper journal is as user friendly. The articles are relevant, timely and thought-provoking; the authors are credible, knowledgeable and articulate. I'll never give up e-Volunteerism!

-- Individual Subscriber

I like that you can get to the journal articles to read on different topics—that has been really helpful to me.

-- American Red Cross participant

Managing volunteers - whether in a nonprofit or a business setting - is often a nose-to-the-grindstone occupation. Intense, challenging, time and energy draining. It is good, therefore, to have a resource like e-Volunteerism that allows us to lift our heads above the day-to-day fray to learn what else is happening in our "industry" that will help us create greater impact and positive, sustainable change in the communities we serve.

How Participants Use the Materials

Participants use the Everyone Ready materials by themselves, in informal discussion and networking with one or more colleagues.  Some use the program for structured team learning exercises and in other innovative ways. Learners have shared excitement about building libraries of the seminar handouts, Self-Instruction Guides and e-Volunteerism journal articles.

I gain special knowledge from Everyone Ready  that helps me do my job better.  I gain knowledge that I pass on to volunteers.  It's the cornerstone of my professional development for volunteers.  I have developed a year-long training program around Everyone Ready . I can stop and start the seminars when viewing these as a group, to allow for discussions.

-- US Army Volunteer Corps participant

Everyone Ready  resources provide a quick and easy way to incorporate training into my meetings with volunteer managers. I can structure a monthly meeting around an online presentation, discussion guide, or other articles from e-Volunteerism.

-- US Army Volunteer Corps participant

Everyone Ready  helps me in planning and organizing our own Humane Society’s preparedness plans.

-- Humane Society of the US participant

Everyone Ready  gives me resource documents from which to pull information to use in budget, in structuring programs, and in working with volunteers.

-- Alzheimer’s Association participant

The Everyone Ready  program has helped us assess our volunteers and improve their experience at our organization.

-- Alzheimer’s Association participant

I reference the Everyone Ready site and advocate the seminars during all training and orientation sessions

-- American Red Cross participant

I view/read the Everyone Ready materials, then teleconference with others in our organization.

-- AARP, regional/state level Volunteer Program Manager with 1-3 years experience.

I'm starting from nothing, so these are really training tools for me. I've at the same time learned what our particular office does and adapted our practices to include many new ideas.

-- Alzheimer’s Association participant who works with volunteers as part of the job, 1-3 years experience

I view the Everyone Ready  seminars individually and then have a group post-viewing discussion.  I’ve sent portions to my OPOCs and also had them come in and take the training on my computer.

-- US Army Volunteer Corps participant who had been working with volunteers as part of job for over 20 years

I watch each seminar with our Volunteer Director.

-- Executive/ Management staff at Volunteers of America, who works with volunteers as part of the job

I use Everyone Ready materials for staff training on the topic of volunteer/staff relations as well as with Committee work--we are currently merging with two other organizations and are merging 3 volunteer programs--I've used the Everyone Ready  resources (including articles) for research and guidance to help us with the process.

-- Humane Society of the US participant, local level VPM, over 20 yrs. working with volunteers
