Brief Excerpt
Partnerships between business
and community organisations are not new. Australia has a long history
of businesses donating goods, services and funds to not-forprofit organisations
and charities. Sponsorships have made possible community projects across
the social, environmental and cultural sectors. Corporate and community
foundations have supported numerous projects and programs.
Corporate volunteering is not new either - a small proportion of Australian businesses
has always loaned their expertise to the voluntary sector through employee volunteer
programs.
What is new is the worldwide interest in the social and environmental accomplishments
of businesses not just their economic performance.
