Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration

Individuals seeking to earn their CVA (Certified in Volunteer Administration) credential in 2008 may now register.  This unique, international, performance-based program recognizes practitioners with at least 3 years of experience in the field of volunteer resources management.  Originally developed decades ago by the Association for Volunteer Administration, the CVA program is now sponsored by the Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration.  Registration for the next cycle will remain open until March 1, 2008.

Offered through the Arkansas Public Administration Consortium and the DHS Division of Volunteerism, since 1986. One of the first of its kind in the nation, it teaches administrators and managers of volunteer programs how to effectively manage their volunteer staff by providing them with leadership and management training designed specifically for the needs of the volunteer professional.

Harper College Volunteer Management Certificate Program - Palatine, Illinois

Harper College offers a Level I and a Level II certificate in volunteer management. Each level requires completion os six basic course, two enrichment courses plus a written paper for Level I and an approved project for Level II. The program is endorsed by the Association for Volunteer Management. Faculty include Jeanne Bradner, who is the specialist for the program, Sarah Curry, Alan Brostoff and others. Courses are offered on Saturdays and an occasional evening.
