Readers' Reviews
"I have been working with the Will County Health
Department to develop a
volunteer program for their pharmaceutical dispensing program. Your
texts have been great resources. Having a background in risk management
and graduate degrees in healthcare risk management and disaster management, I
appreciate the risk management elements of your materials. Also, the guidance
you provide for organizing and directing format for a volunteer program have
been invaluable to me."

Brief Excerpt
Excerpted from "Benefits of Policies"
In looking at the benefits of policies, and in considering the various definitions
and descriptions of policies outlined above, four general purposes or types
of policies emerge as central to our work in volunteer programs:
- policy as a statement of belief/position/value
- policy as a method of risk management
- policy as a rule
- policy as an aid to program effectiveness
