Heather M. Hardie was hired in 1992 to coordinate the delivery of a national volunteer-based cancer support program, the Look Good Feel Better (LGFB) Program. Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) was the first location in Canada to offer LGFB workshops, and this connection led Heather to accept the position of manager of volunteer resources at PMH in 2001. In 2013, Heather retired from the newly renamed Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, having been responsible for the management of all volunteer activities undertaken by more than 450 volunteers, all of which was achieved within the reality of a “workforce” with diverse motivations, none of which were financially based.
