Tip 27: Present Recognition in Person

Never mail their award, never put it in their mailbox, and never give it to somebody else to give it to them. If they are going to miss the event where you were planning to present them an award always find another public venue to make the presentation. I remember one time when I earned a service award for a number of years of service and, because I was working and could not attend the event, they placed it in my mailbox. I don’t have to tell you where that award ended up, do I? Make the award presentation a celebration the volunteer will treasure.
